SUMMARY:Celtic Colours: Pjila’si: A Wagmatcook Welcome
DESCRIPTION:Pjila’si: A Wagmatcook Welcome \n“Pjila’si” means welcome in Mi’kmaw\, and Wagmatcook—like all Mi’kmaw communities within Unama’ki (Cape Breton Island)—has always been a very welcoming one. Overlooking Nyanza Bay\, stunning views will complement the music coming from the Wagmatcook Culture and Heritage Centre stage tonight. \nThis evening’s concert will start with a traditional welcome ceremony by the Indian Bay Drummers\, followed by performances by Le Vent du Nord and guitar duo Scott Macmillan and James MacLean. \nAlthough Le Vent du Nord has only played Celtic Colours four times in the last twenty years\, their outstanding musicianship\, engaging stage presence\, and undeniable joie de vivre makes it seem like they’re here every other year. It’s hard to believe it’s been seven years since the award-winning and highly-acclaimed group has performed at the Festival. They will certainly receive a warm welcome in Wagmatcook tonight\, along with Scott Macmillan and James MacLean. An award-winning and much celebrated musician\, composer\, and conductor\, Scott is teamed up with a past guitar student in James\, who has been making a name for himself as a unique accompanist since releasing his debut album in 2018 with support from the Festival Volunteer Drive’ers Association.
